Terms of Service

1. Acceptance
By using FluentEditor (the browser extension or web application), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. The Service
FluentEditor provides AI-powered writing assistance via a browser extension and web application. The service includes grammar correction, text rewriting, tone adjustment, summarization, email drafting, and other writing tools designed to help non-native English speakers communicate more effectively.
3. Accounts
- You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- Free accounts include 200 AI requests per month. Paid plans include additional quota as described on the billing page.
- One account per person. Sharing credentials is not permitted.
4. Acceptable Use
You may not use FluentEditor to:
- Generate content that is illegal, harmful, or violates third-party rights.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the API.
- Share account credentials with others or resell access to the service.
- Use the service for spam generation or automated mass content production.
- Circumvent usage quotas or rate limits through any means.
5. AI Suggestions
AI-generated suggestions are provided "as is" for writing assistance purposes only. FluentEditor does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of suggestions for any particular purpose. You are responsible for reviewing all AI suggestions before using them, especially in professional, legal, or medical communications.
6. Billing and Refunds
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 30 days of the charge.
7. Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of any text you submit to FluentEditor. The AI-generated suggestions provided to you are yours to use. FluentEditor retains all rights to the service, software, and underlying technology.
8. Limitation of Liability
FluentEditor is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, FluentEditor shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless FluentEditor and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
10. GDPR and EU Users
If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, the following additional terms apply:
- Legal basis: we process your personal data based on (a) your consent when you create an account, (b) contractual necessity to provide the service, and (c) legitimate interest for service improvement and security.
- Data controller: FluentEditor is the data controller for personal data collected through the service.
- Your rights: you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, port your data, and object to processing. See our Privacy Policy for details on how to exercise these rights.
- Data transfers: your data may be processed outside the EU/EEA. We use appropriate safeguards (standard contractual clauses) to protect data transferred internationally.
- Data retention: we retain data only as long as necessary to provide the service. Usage events are deleted after 90 days. You may delete your account at any time.
- Complaints: you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Delaware, USA. If you are an EU resident, this clause does not affect your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection laws.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify users of significant changes by email or through the application.
